John “Crank” Mizer
passed away suddenly on March 23, 2024.
John was born April 11, 1960 in Canton, Ohio. He was a life-long resident of Canton, graduating from Timken High School in 1978. John later earned his bachelor’s degree from Malone College in 2001. He was a retired PE /Health teacher and Cross-Country coach from North Canton City Schools. John was generous and supportive to everyone he met; but especially to his many nieces and nephews. He was an avid sports fan of all local teams and local athletes. During the summer months John was passionate about playing bocce as well as gardening. We will certainly miss his home grown tomatoes and peppers that he shared with so many of us. “Crank” will also be remembered for always being ready to have fun and enjoy a cold beer with friends and family. He will be missed by all of us. John is survived by his brothers and their families; Larry, Greg, Jeff, Mike and Jason Bannevich; stepfather, Jim Bannevich; one aunt; Almira Prysock; one uncle; Sonny Barnett; his many loving nieces and nephews, as well as other family members and close friends. The Wackerly Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Personal condolences are invited online at www.wackerlyfuneralhome.com
